Spondon Alight - Saturday 26th November

The most popular event on the Spondon calendar - the Spondon Alight Christmas lights switch on - is on Saturday 26th November.

~ Village Centre roads and streets close at 2.30pm ~
~ Stalls in the Liberal Club and Village Club from 2.30pm to 7pm ~

~ Fun Fair starts at around 4pm ~
~ Village Hall open from 4pm with more stalls, refreshments and muilled wine ~

Entertainment in the precinct from around 5pm ~
Lights switched on at 6pm, along with the firework display ~
The fair closes around 8pm, so that the roads can reopen at 9pm ~

The annual event is organised by Spondon Traders Association and brings fun for everyone to the Village Centre for a very special festive evening.

The big man himself - SANTA - will be back in the village again for the event, with his grotto outside the Liberal Club.

The Liberal Club, the Village Club and the Village Hall will all have stalls and exhibitions, so there will be lots for everyone to see and do! Most of the shops will be open late for Christmas shopping and other festive surprises.

Spondon's own Christmas Fair will be on Sitwell Street and Chapel Street and as promised it will be bigger than ever.

Another popular attraction of recent events also returns. The Co-operative Funeralcare will be having the glass princess carriage and horses again this year and it's always a magical sight.

The village will also welcome many musicians around the streets to keep everyone entertained, so it will be a fantastic atmosphere, and as usual there will be plenty of food and drink at all the usual Village outlets too.

The big switch-on will be at 6pm, accompanied by a brilliant fireworks display.

And don't forget the grand raffle too. The first prize is a cash prize of £250.00 and tickets are available in many shops throughout the village, with all proceeds being put straight back into the events that are put on by the Traders Association. So why not buy a ticket or two, perhaps win a prize and support the Christmas lights. Talk about win-win!

So come down on the 26th, have a great time, meet all your friends and enjoy yourself. We look forward to seeing you there!
